Description
Rose Cottage features the remains of a lime kiln located to the north of the cottage. Likely built in the 17th century, this two-storey structure has one window and is thatched with limewashed stone. A spiral stone staircase projects from the northwest corner. The building includes casement windows and a wide entrance door. Inside, you can find hewn joists and roof timbers. There is a modern addition to the north and a small 17th-century outbuilding at the rear on the west side. The remains of the kiln consist of twin "bee-hive" chambers that are open on the north side, constructed from narrow stonework. The site holds landscape value and is of interest for industrial archaeology.
