Description

Meadow View is a cottage that likely began as a small farmhouse, dating from the 17th century or earlier, with a 17th-century rear wing. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and has an asbestos slate roof that features a half-hipped higher end on the right and a gabled lower end on the left. The building has a tall rendered lateral front stack with set-offs.

Originally, the layout consisted of three rooms with a through passage, but the inner room is now part of the hall, and the lower left end appears to have been rebuilt with a lower roof level. The front lateral hall stack is present, and there is a later 17th-century wing at the rear of the higher end, which includes a lateral stack and a later lean-to at the side, forming an angle with the main range. The rear doorway of the passage has been blocked.

The exterior is two storeys high with a two-window range featuring 20th-century casements. There is a central projecting lateral hall stack, a large 20th-century window to the right, and a 20th-century glazed passage door to the left, which has a slated canopy above it. At the eaves level, there are two flat-roofed hall dormers. The lower left end has a corrugated iron roof and 20th-century garage doors. The interior was inaccessible during the survey, but it is noted that the hall has a chamfered ceiling beam, and the partition between the hall and the former inner room has been removed. The roof structure may also be of interest.
