Description
The limekilns at Petoe Quarry, dating from the early 19th century, are constructed from local stone rubble. They consist of a pair of adjoining limekilns that are rectangular in shape and built into the bank of a quarry. The front features two pointed arch kiln openings, each with a corbelled vault inside. Between these openings is a broad raking stone buttress. The front and side walls are parapeted at the top, which is elevated at the rear to allow for loading the kilns from above. Vegetation, including trees, has begun to grow on top of the kilns, which are located in the now disused Petoe Quarry, creating a picturesque setting.
