Description
Clematis Cottage and Court Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the early 18th century, with later 18th century and 19th century additions. They feature plastered rubble and cob walls and have a hipped thatch roof. There is an axial brick chimney on a rendered rubble base. The layout includes Clematis Cottage on the left, which has a two-room plan, while Court Cottage on the right has one room at the front, separated from Clematis by the axial stack, and an unheated wing at the rear that was added in the late 18th century. There are 19th or early 20th century outshuts built at the back. The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical three-window front, consisting of two 19th century small-paned two-light casements and a 20th century single light on the ground floor to the left. There is a 19th century plank door to the left of Clematis Cottage, featuring a half-door in front and a slate hood above. Court Cottage has a 20th century part-glazed door and a wing behind its right-hand end. The interior was inaccessible at the time of the survey.
