Description
The Inner Hope former Lifeboat Station, built in 1875, is a single-storey structure with an attic, constructed from local slatestone rubble with firestone dressings and topped with a gabled slate roof. It has a rectangular plan and features an entrance in the gable end that faces the beach. The gabled facade is accented by offset buttresses, a coped parapet, and an apex finial. The entrance has been altered and is partly filled in, likely following an earlier enlargement. The gable displays two roundels featuring a monogram, possibly "A E," along with the Prince of Wales feathers and a masonic device. A jet tied bay window with canted sides and wooden casement windows is also present in the gable. The side walls include four shoulder-headed openings fitted with slotted louvres or casements. External stairs are located on the roadside, and there is a boarded door at the rear. This building is noted for being virtually unaltered.
