Description

Afton Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of whitewashed stone rubble and rendered cob, topped with a thatched roof featuring gabled hipped ends. The building has an L-shaped plan with a short hipped roof wing and stands two storeys high. The cottage has small 19th and 20th century casement windows and a glazed door, which is sheltered by a porch made of corrugated plastic sheets. A large chimney stack is located at the gable end, with an oven projecting from its base. To the east, there is a wing made of stone rubble and cob. The cottage is built into a bank, with the ground level almost reaching the eaves on the west side.
