Description

Alleron House is a detached house set in its own grounds, dating from the 17th century with significant modifications made in the 20th century and some early 19th-century features. The building is constructed of rendered rubble with slate roofs and brick stacks. It consists of a two-part structure, featuring an L-shaped service wing attached to a later rectangular main block.

The main block is two storeys high and has a two-bay garden front, which includes arched 16-pane sashes with radial lights at the ground floor and 16-pane sashes with louvred shutters at the first floor. The right return wall features a 20th-century canted one-storey bay with 8:16:8-pane sashes. The entrance front also has a similar canted bay and a tall slender 24-pane stair sash, with a 16-pane and a 12-pane sash at the first floor. Centrally located are a pair of panelled doors leading up five steps to a 20th-century portico supported by octagonal pillars. The roof is hipped and sweeps down to box eaves, with brick stacks at the gable ends.

The service block on the entrance front is two storeys tall and features 2-light glazing bar casements. The garden front has 2 and 3-light 20th-century casements and a pair of French doors. The gable end showcases paired diagonal brick stacks and a ridge stack on the projecting arm.

Inside the main block, there is a notable 18th-century eared architrave fire surround, numerous original panelled doors, and panelling beside the stick-baluster staircase, along with moulded architraves and shutters for the arched ground floor lights. The service wing has undergone significant modifications in the 20th century.
