Description

Alleron Bridge is a road bridge that spans a stream, dating from the 18th or 19th century. It is constructed of granite rubble and features a single segmental arch with a span of approximately 2.25 meters. The bridge has square section parapets that rise about 800 millimeters above the road surface, with a distinctive sweep at the north-west corner. The parapet is made of large square blocks, with longer stones at the ends of the abutments, and includes a series of vertical through-stones. The arch is finished with good flush voussoirs. The roadway between the parapets is also about 2.25 meters wide. Alleron Bridge is part of a series of well-maintained bridges in the area, crossing a tributary stream to the River Avon.
