Description
Ford House is a former inn, likely built in the 1830s, now divided into three flats. It features slate rubble construction with brick window dressings and stone stringcourses. The roof is a grouted scantle slate hipped design, and there is a rendered chimney stack on the left side wall. The building has an almost square plan, although the rear wall is not parallel to the front wall. It has a double depth layout with two main front rooms, a central entrance passage, and possibly a smaller service room at the back. While the central passage has been preserved, the rear layout has been altered internally. The exterior is three storeys high with a symmetrical three-bay front. It retains original 12-pane sash windows with red brick jambs and painted brick flat arches. The central doorway is a painted brick round arch with a semi-circular fanlight featuring radiating glazing bars, and it has an original six-panel door with glazed top panels. There is a projecting stone stringcourse at both the first and second floor levels. The interior was only briefly observed on the ground storey.
