Description

Langstone Farmhouse is probably late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of roughcast slate rubble with a slate roof and gabled ends. The house has gable end stacks; the larger right-hand stack projects and has a set-off with a clay pot, while the left-hand stack has a slate capping. The original plan comprised two rooms with a central entrance. Each room has a gable end fireplace. The larger right-hand room, likely the kitchen, features a massive projecting stack, and the smaller left-hand room was probably a parlour. A later single-storey outshut has been added to the rear, and there is an open-fronted outbuilding at the lower left end. The ground slopes steeply away at the rear.

The south front has an asymmetrical two-window arrangement. The windows are 19th-century casements of two lights, with the ground floor right-hand window being a 19th-century three-light casement. All the windows have glazing bars and slate sills. The central doorway has a late 19th or early 20th century plank door and an open-fronted stone porch with a scantle slate lean-to roof. The rear elevation was not inspected. While the interior has not been inspected, the virtually unaltered exterior suggests some original features may remain.
