Description
St Ann's Well is a holy well located approximately 70 meters south of Holwell Farmhouse. It was established in the Middle Ages, but the surviving structure dates from the 19th century. The well is constructed of rubble, with some yellow brick used for the steps. There are remains of a small walled enclosure, and brick steps lead down to the water level on the west end. The site is considerably overgrown, making the outlines difficult to establish. This well is a notable feature, historically referred to as the Holy Well, and it is the source of fresh water that gives its name to the nearby Holwell Farmhouse.
