Description
The bathhouse and adjoining boathouse, located a few meters southeast of Greenway House, date from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The structure is made of slate rubble, with some areas plastered. Originally thatched, it now features a shingle roof with a gable facing the river. The building has two storeys, with the first floor jettied and a balcony supported by three round-arched windows. The ground floor includes three round brick arched openings. It is built over a stone basement at beach level, which has round-headed sluices that allow sea water to enter the bath at high tide. Inside, there is a sunken bath with an iron balustrade and steps leading down. A small chimneypiece is located on the rear wall of the fireplace. The room above has a balcony that overlooks the River Dart. There is also a small stone rubble boathouse adjoining to the southeast.
