Description
No. 72 on Fore Street is a small house from the late 18th century that was altered in the early 19th century. It has three storeys and two windows, filling the original side passage of No. 74. The building retains the "deux corps de batiments" plan type, featuring a detached rear block accessed by a gallery. The roof is hipped and covered with Welsh slate. The structure is timber framed with a rusticated plaster front and has a cornice supported by console brackets. The first floor jetties out, resting on a projecting dentil cornice of the shopfront. The windows are architraved sash windows with glazing bars. The early 19th-century wooden shopfront includes a shop window with large panes and an architraved shop doorway. Inside, there is an original open staircase with a closed string, turned balusters, and a square newel.
