Description
East Venn Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1830. It is constructed of rubble with some slate-hanging. The building features a plain central staircase hall and has a symmetrical block with a hipped roof and end stacks. At the back, there is a one-storey lean-to facing the road. The front elevation, which faces away from the road, is two storeys high and has three original 12-pane sash windows. The central entrance consists of a panelled door set in deep reveals, flanked by a pilaster door-case and topped with an entablature. The west gable wall is plain and slate-hung, featuring a broad rendered stack near the front and the remains of a smaller external stack towards the back. The rear of the building has a two-light glazing-bar casement above the lean-to, with 20th-century casements to the left at ground floor, which are set beneath a good splayed brick arch. The main front of the farmhouse is modest yet handsome, appearing almost untouched. The interior has not been inspected.
