Description
The Modbury Inn is an inn that dates from the 18th century or earlier, though it has been significantly modified in the 19th century. The building is rendered and scribed with a slate roof, and the back slope is covered with asbestos-cement slate. It stands two storeys high with an attic and features four windows, which are either 4-pane or plate glass sashes.
On the ground floor, to the left, there is a plank door set in an architrave that leads to an open gabled hood supported by brackets. To the right, there are two canted bay windows with hipped roofs and a square opening that has plank doors leading to a throughway. The first floor has four equally spaced sashes that do not align with the windows below. There are also three flat-roofed dormers, each with 2-light casements. At the back, the eaves feature two very large chimneys. Additionally, there is a wing that resembles a cottage, which is two storeys high and has casement windows, with a small slate roof on the hipped end.
