Description
No. 83 High Street is an early 19th-century building that stands three storeys tall and features one window. It has a hipped Welsh slate roof and a slate-hung, timber-framed front. The masonry party walls are adorned with rendered pilaster strips at the corners of the street front. A modillion cornice runs along the top. The building has architraved sash windows with glazing bars; the second-floor window includes sidelights, while the first-floor features a Venetian window with arched Gothick glazing. The wooden shopfront is supported by pilasters and carries an entablature with a modillion cornice. The shop window and doorway have been altered. There is a former panelled house door with a rectangular fanlight. Inside, the building contains raised and fielded panel doors and cupboards, along with impressive first-floor chimneypieces of the Adam style.
