Description
Church House Inn is a public house dating from around the 16th century. It is constructed of colour-washed stone rubble and features a slate roof with gabled ends. The building has two storeys and a three-window range, with small 18th, 19th, and 20th-century casement windows that include glazing bars, one of which has leaded panes. The ground floor windows are topped with chamfered wooden lintels. There is a continuous slated pentice hood over the ground floor window, accompanied by a stone stringcourse above. The doorway, located to the right of centre, has a heavy chamfered lintel and an early 19th-century panelled door.
Stone chimney stacks are present at both gable ends, with set-offs; the one on the north end is particularly large and features a square stair turret in the angle, topped with a lean-to slated roof and a very small window. There is also a small stack in the front wall to the left of the doorway. At the rear, there is a semi-circular stair turret and a parallel rear wing that includes external stairs to the left and a stack at the gable end.
Inside, the property boasts chamfered and moulded ceiling beams and joists with roll moulding. The screen at the south end has roll moulded muntins, and there is a large fireplace at the north end featuring a chamfered wooden lintel, with the door head cut away at the side.
