Description

Dartbank is a villa, built around 1850 as one of a group of three. The external walls are stuccoed over a stone rubble core, with chimney stacks featuring stuccoed brick shafts and a hipped slate roof. The building has a roughly L-shaped plan, comprising a two-room front block and a two-room service wing set at a right angle to the rear right.

The front of the building, facing the road, is symmetrical and has two windows on each floor. A two-story verandah extends across the ground floor, behind which are French windows with glazing bars and side lights. The ground-floor windows are sheltered by a verandah with paired posts and a glass roof. The first floor has sash windows with 2/1 glazing panes. All windows, including the French windows, have broad stucco architraves with a vermiculated rustication effect. The remaining front stucco is designed to resemble ashlar stone, with quoins at each end also featuring vermiculated rustication. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to contain interesting features.
