Description
The lychgate, gates, and churchyard wall located south and west of the Church of St Mary were built in the mid to late 19th century. The structure is made of roughly-coursed stone rubble, with the wall topped by slate capping and the lychgate featuring a slate roof. The lychgate is a simple design with solid stone rubble walls that support a gabled slate roof, and it includes a pair of iron gates adorned with fleur de lis finials on the middle and top rails. The tall stone rubble walls, also capped with slate, enclose the churchyard on the south side. On this side, some buildings are adjacent to part of the wall, while on the west side, the wall serves as the boundary between the churchyard and the village green. This site has group value with the church, Crosse Cottage, and Capitol Farmhouse.
