EAST WORLINGTON SS 71 NE 4/11 Stone Farmhouse

Farmnouse. Mid C18. Cob on a rubble plinth, rendered and colourwasned; hipped straw thatched roof, end rendered stacks. Plan: 2-room main range, kitchen to left, central hall with straight-flight stairs, parlour to right, both heated by gable-end fireplaces; large 2-storeyed dairy wing at rear of kitchen, forming an L-plan. Exterior: symmetrical 3 windows to principal elevation, C20 uPVC casements, diamond- paned lights with applied lead cames. Central door opening, C20 door, C20 lean-to porch. Wing at rear also with uPVC casements. Interior: with kitchen with large fireplace with wood bressumer, roughly hewn ceiling beam; lobby featureless with C20 staircase, but probably in the position of the original stair; parlour with small fireplace in C18 rubble surround. Dairy reached from the kitchen, featureless. Roof: of roughly-hewn halved timbers, simple king-post trusses with diagonal bracing through purlins resting on top of the principals, halved and lapped joints, wooden pegs.
