Description
The entrance gates and gatepiers, located approximately 75 metres southeast of Fremington Manor House, were built around 1881 by E. Newton. The gatepiers are constructed of stone rubble and feature moulded stone caps, urns, and bases. There are four square-section gatepiers that flank the central double gates and side pedestrian gates. Each gatepier has moulded stone bases and cornice caps adorned with a leaf design, topped with stepped caps. The two central gatepiers are embellished with urns that are encrusted with carved fossils and foliage. The decorative wrought iron gates are intricately designed, featuring interlacing scroll ironwork at the top and bottom sections, along with a middle section composed of three tall rectangles with D-ends. The main double gates are distinguished by arched scrolled top rails.
