Description

This range of farm buildings, comprising a root house, market cart house, and fat bullocks house with lofts above, dates possibly to the 17th century. The buildings are constructed of cob with a corrugated asbestos roof. They are approximately 25 metres west of South Hole Farmhouse.

The root house is on the left and has two openings; the opening to the right has a timber lintel, while another is slatted with a loft door above. The market cart house features an old double-leaved plank door and timber lintel. A loft door is positioned to the right of a slated opening. The fat bullocks house, at the south end, has an opening to the right with a timber lintel, and above this is a possibly reset 17th-century three-light splayed mullion window.

The root house, market cart house, and fat bullocks house form the southern part of a long range of farm buildings set forward of stables and a shippon, with a cart linhay adjoining to the north.
