Description
Monks Cottage is a cottage that possibly dates from the 17th century but may have earlier origins. It is constructed of whitewashed cob and features a thatched roof that is hipped at the right end. The building has an axial brick stack and is oriented gable end to the street with a gable entry. It has a single depth plan and stands at one and a half storeys. There are two eyebrow dormers with horizontal sliding sashes, each containing six panes, positioned above two 2-light timber casements, both located to the left of the horizontal sliding sash. On the east side, there is a rainwater head from the 18th century. Monks Cottage was originally part of a hostelry complex that included Cowlers and Thatches. The interior has not been inspected.
