Description

This is a 19th-century limekiln located approximately 3 metres south-east of Cone Cottage in Combe Martin. It is constructed from unrendered stone rubble and built into a bank, featuring a circular well. The two exposed sides project in a V-shape, each adorned with a semi-circular arched corbelled swallow made of rough stone voussoirs. Stone rubble retaining walls extend from each side. Combe Martin is noted for having the highest concentration of kilns in North Devon, which are situated close to the limestone quarries, running parallel to and south-west of the village street.
