Description
25 and 25A High Street is a house and shop dating from the early to mid 19th century. The building has rendered, solid walls that are likely made of brick, and it features a hipped slate roof at the front. It stands three storeys tall and has a two-window range. The ground floor has a shop front that was inserted in 1986. The upper storey windows are adorned with moulded architraves and sashes that include margin panes. There are raised bands at the cill level and a moulded fascia board below the eaves. The rear wall contains old six-paned sash windows, with two on each upper storey, which overlook St Peter's Churchyard. The interior was not inspected in detail, but the ground floor, which was gutted during the first survey, showed no notable features in the side walls. The building holds an important position, looking down Cross Street and backing onto St Peter's Church.
