Description

Heard Headstone is located about half a meter east of the east end of the south aisle of the Church of St. John in Satterleigh. This twin headstone dates from the mid-19th century and was created by R. Folland of King's Nympton. It is made of slate and features twin incised pointed arches with inscriptions dedicated to John, who died in 1855, and Elizabeth Heard, who died in 1862, along with verses at the base.
