Description
This is a 19th-century limekiln located on the north side of Park Lane, approximately 20 meters north-west of its junction with Pig Lane in Combe Martin. The structure is made of unrendered stone rubble and is circular in plan, featuring a circular well. It is built into a bank and has two semi-circular arched corbelled swallows with rough stone voussoirs. A stone rubble retaining wall extends to the right, decreasing in height. Combe Martin is noted for having the highest concentration of kilns in North Devon, which are aligned near the limestone quarries, running parallel to and south-west of the long village street.
