Description

Pedley Barton is a farmhouse located on Pedley Lane in East Worlington. It likely dates from the 17th century or earlier, with some changes made in the 18th century. The building is constructed of cob and rubble, with a roughcast finish and an asbestos-sheeting roof. It features two brick ridge stacks and a rough-cast lateral stack with offsets, topped with a brick shaft.

The layout consists of a three-room plan with a through passage; the lower end is to the right. The hall is heated by the front lateral stack, while the inner room and lower end are heated by gable end stacks. There is a 20th-century addition at the lower end and a late 18th-century addition at the higher end.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical arrangement of windows, with two sets of two windows. The windows are three-light late 18th-century casements with closely set glazing bars. The principal door is located to the right of the stack, leading into the through passage, and features a panelled design.

The interior has only been partially observed. The lower room contains two chamfered and stepped-stopped axial beams, and the lateral fireplace has been blocked. Some high-quality 18th-century fielded panelled doors were also noted. The hall, inner room, first floor, and roof have not been seen.
