Description
Lewdon is a pair of cottages that were formerly a farmhouse, likely dating from the 17th century, and possibly even earlier. The structure is made of plastered cob on rubble footings, with cob or rubble stacks that are topped with 19th and 20th-century brick. The roof is covered with corrugated asbestos, which replaced the original thatch. The long building faces south.
The left (west) end features a two-room cottage with a projecting end stack and a rear lateral stack, while the right (east) end contains a three-room cottage with front and rear lateral stacks. The building has two storeys and an irregular six-window front, with late 19th and 20th-century casements that include glazing bars. Both doors are from the 20th century. There is a row of four beeboles located at first floor level to the right of the center. Inside, there is plain carpentry detail visible where it is exposed, although the roof has not been inspected.
