Description

Cawsey headstone, located approximately 3 metres south of the south-west corner of the west tower of the Church of St Mary, dates from 1835. It is made of slate and features a shaped head with elaborate decoration, including scalloped motifs at the corners and a star motif flanking a central urn. The headstone bears the verse "Reader Prepare to meet thy God" and "Behold the Lord Taketh away who can hinder him who whill say unto him what doest thou?" It is inscribed to Robert Cawsey, who died in 1835, and his wife, who died in 1842.
