Description

Bonds Farmhouse is a farmhouse, likely dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and cob, with a thatched roof featuring gable ends. A tall, unrendered stone rubble stack is located to the front, with offsets, and another stack is at the left gable end. The original layout included a three-room through-passage plan, with an outshut and a former stair turret at the rear. The house is two storeys high, featuring a four-window front with sash windows. The ground floor has three 16-paned sashes, and the upper floor windows are 4 over 8 pane sashes, those to either side of the porch lacking horns. A gabled lattice porch provides access to a 20th-century door. Inside, the house is arranged along a slope, with a hall and an inner room situated below the through-passage on the left, and a former kitchen with a 20th-century staircase inserted on the right. The hall and inner room contain a chamfered cross ceiling beam and bressumer, with slightly stepped stops. The hall fireplace has been concealed. The original roof structure from the early 17th century remains, comprising three trusses with slightly curved feet to the principals.
