Description

The White Hart is a late 18th or early 19th century house, formerly a public house. It is constructed of rendered stone and cob, with a thatched roof and gable end brick stacks. The building originally comprised two rooms and a central staircase, with the unusual design of the staircase facing the rear. It is virtually symmetrical, featuring a three-window front with eyebrow dormers containing small gables above the first-floor windows. The ground floor has two sash windows with margin glazing bars, framing a two-light casement window with two panes to each light. A weathered painted inn signboard with a moulded timber surround is situated between the two right-hand windows. The ground floor also has sash windows with margin glazing bars flanking a plank door. An outshut extends to the rear. Much of the 19th-century internal joinery remains, including straight principals to four trusses.
