Description

The Chapel of St Michael is a possibly 15th-century chapel located in Braunton. It is constructed of coursed shale rubble and features a battered plinth. The structure is a roofless single-cell ruin, with all four walls remaining intact almost to full height. The west gable end has a projecting portal with a depressed double arch, which may have originally supported a bellcote above. The south doorway is designed with a plain pointed arch, and there are window openings on the north, south, and east sides. The walls also contain numerous small square holes resembling putlog holes.
