Description
No. 46 Boutport Street is a shop with accommodation above, which was disused at the time of the survey. It likely dates from around 1800 and has undergone later alterations, including a 19th century or early 20th century shopfront. The building is plastered, with the roof not visible. It features a left end stack with a brick shaft and a corbelled cornice, as well as cast-iron rainwater goods. The building has a double-depth plan and is one room wide, standing three storeys tall.
The front of the building is symmetrical with two bays and includes an eaves board. The shopfront is characterized by moulded pilasters and a projecting moulded cornice above a panelled fascia. The plate-glass shop windows are canted towards a central glazed door, which leads to a porch with a tiled floor. On the first floor, there are two 12-pane hornless sash windows with shallow cast-iron balconies, and these windows break a moulded cornice. The second floor has two 12-pane hornless sash windows. The interior was not available for inspection at the time of the survey.
