Description
This is a range of farm buildings, including a barn, cart-shed, stables, and shippon, with a granary attached to the south side of Twitchen Farmhouse. Likely built in the mid-19th century, the buildings are constructed from Morte slatestone and feature slate roofs that are hipped at the left (south) end. The barn on the left has double doors and a loft door to the right, although the loft floor is now missing. The cart-shed includes a loft opening above a cambered-arched cart entrance, with a round-arched stable door opening to the right. The stables and shippon have a continuous row of pigeon-holes with slate landings beneath the eaves, interrupted by a loft door leading to the granary. The shippon features two round-arched openings; the left one has an inserted round-arched window with glazing bars next to a plank door, both positioned to the left of two cambered-arched openings. All arched openings are adorned with slatestone voussoirs.
