Description

This is a mounting block, likely dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, located against the outside face of the south wall of the churchyard of the Church of St Andrew near the west end. The base is made of roughly-squared blocks of volcanic stone, while the steps are crafted from volcanic stone ashlar. The mounting block consists of four steps leading to a top stage, where the large front block slightly projects forward and features a soffit-chamfered design.
