Description

Sunny Cottage is an early to mid-19th century pair of cottages, now combined into a single house, located in Cheriton Bishop. The construction consists of plastered cob and rubble, with a rubble stack topped with brick. Originally conceived as a symmetrical pair of two-room cottages around a central axial stack, the upper storey of the left-hand cottage has been reduced, featuring a hipped roof extending over the outer ground-floor room. The right-hand cottage retains its original appearance, with a half-hipped roof and a three-window front, the central doorway now enclosed by a 20th-century porch. The front now incorporates five windows overall, with 20th-century iron casements on the ground floor and 20th-century wooden casements on the first floor. Internally, the carpentry is of a plain design.
