Description

EGGESFORD SS 61 SE 1/57 Fellowes Chest Tomb approximately - 11 metres east of aisle of Church of All Saints GV II Chest tomb. Dated 1788 in memory of Mary Fellowes. Portland stone with grey basalt lid and white marble plaques. Rectangular in plan with a flat lid with moulded edges and moulded base. The sides are panelled and the end corners are recessed containing a fluted pilaster with gadrooned base and moulded cap. The west end contains an oval inscribed marble plaque recording the death of S Coulson Fellowes in 1769. The tomb is surrounded by a low Portland stone wall in which the coping includes the setting for iron area railings, now removed.
