Description

This solid stone turret, located about 6 metres south of the war memorial seat, dates from the circa 1840s and is constructed from snecked volcanic ashlar. The turret is square in shape and is attached to the wall that forms the boundary of the green surrounding the war memorial seat. It is designed to resemble a miniature church tower, featuring buttresses with set-offs and slated arched recesses that imitate tower windows. The top of the turret is heavily overgrown with ivy and may have a castellated design, and it appears to support an old iron lamp bracket.
