WASHFIELD WASHFIELD Solid stone turret about 6 metres south of war memorial seat

GV II

Stone turret, modelled on a church tower. Circa 1840s. Snecked volcanic ashlar. Turret, square on plan and adjoining the wall that forms the boundary of the green around the war memorial seat (qv). Designed like a miniature church tower with buttresses with set-offs and slated arched recesses in imitation of tower windows. The top is very overgrown with ivy but may be castellated and appears to support an old iron lamp bracket.
