Description

The University of Reading War Memorial, built around 1922, is a war memorial designed as a square tower made of red brick. It features shallow clasping buttresses and a pyramidal tiled roof topped with a finial. The tower has an open top stage that includes a clock and decorative designs with the years '1914' and '1918' displayed in the spandrels. Below this, there are double round-arched windows with a single window placed centrally beneath them. The north and south sides of the tower also feature round arches with moulded triangular gables above. Inside, there are inscribed tablets that list the names of those who fell in the war.
