Description
Greenbank, located at 42 London Road, is a building that dates back to the mid-18th century and has undergone alterations and restorations. It stands two storeys tall with an attic, constructed from silver grey brick headers complemented by red dressings and quoins. The building features a moulded and bracketed wooden cornice and a hipped slate roof. There are three grey brick chimneys with stone moulded capping, which are likely 20th-century replicas.
The property has two dormers with moulded cornices and casement windows, along with glazing bar sash windows—four on the first floor and three on the ground floor. The entrance door is framed by an architrave surround that is broken at the corners, with panelled pilasters, console brackets, a broken cornice, and a pediment, leading to a six-panel door. A late 19th-century glazed porch is situated at the front of the building. The return side is finished in red brick with blue-grey headers, featuring one panel per floor on the eastern side. Additionally, early 19th-century cast iron railings with panel standards are present on a low wall with stone coping along the street.
