Description

This is a barn, originally a threshing barn, located 8 metres east of Batten's in Clayhidon. It dates from the mid-18th century and is constructed of random rubble chert, with some cob below the eaves line. The barn features a hipped thatched roof. The opposed doors have been replaced, and there is one smaller planked door with strap hinges. A pointed window is present at the rear, and there is a benchmark on the left-hand corner. Inside, the barn has a collar rafter roof supported by six trusses with tie beams and high collars, all pegged throughout. This barn is a well-preserved example of an 18th-century barn.
