Description

Holcombe Cottage is a detached cottage likely dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of roughcast rubble, possibly including some cob, and has a half-hipped and gable-end thatched roof. The cottage comprises two rooms, with the room to the right being smaller and unheated. A porch leads into a lobby which contains the staircase. A chimney stack is located at the left-hand end of the building, with a brick shaft. The front elevation has a two-window range; the windows are 2- and 3-light casements, likely added slightly later than the original structure. A timber porch, partially glazed, is situated at the front. The interior is simple, featuring an unchamfered lintel above the fireplace. Holcombe Cottage represents an unspoiled example of an early 19th century agricultural labourer's cottage.
