Description
The Steer Headstone, located approximately 25 meters south of the south porch of the Church of St Bartholomew, is a Grade II listed headstone. It is dated, though barely legible, likely from 1733, and commemorates Jane Steer. The headstone is made of granite and features an elliptical-headed upright slab that stands about 1.1 meters high. The inscription, which is worn but still readable, is set within a rectangular flame and is accompanied by a shallow bas-relief cherub. The inscription uses simple upper and lower case letters to record the burial of Jane, wife of John Steer, although the lower part of the inscription is now buried.
