Description

SHOBROOKE CHURCH LANE SS 80 SE 2/70 Chest tomb approx 2½ metres south - of south aisle of Church of St Swithin GV II Chest tomb. Probably C17. Volcanic stone ashlar with granite lid. Rectangular plan, plain sides with projecting chamfered cornice. Lid has hollow-chamfered moulding to soffit. Any inscription thereon now weathered away. Below another cornice perhaps carving, perhaps figurative. The tomb sinks to the east. Perhaps resited in 1879.
