Description

Bolealler House is a detached house dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of stuccoed walls with a gabled slate roof. The house comprises a main range with two rear wings. The symmetrical front façade has three windows, with overhanging eaves and a moulded gutter box supported by eight paired console brackets, each pair resting on the moulded capital to pilaster quoins and a plaster strip pilaster. The windows are hornless sashes; first-floor outer windows have 16 panes, the centre window has 12, and ground-floor windows have 8 and 12 panes respectively. The ground-floor windows are each topped with a heavy moulded cornice on console brackets. A central porch has a parapet and moulded cornice, with a round-headed window on either side, containing three panes and coloured glass margin panes. The round-headed doorway has a hoodmould and capitals, with a 20th-century glazed door replacing the original, though retaining the original panelled reveals and soffit. End stacks are present. The right-hand elevation features two 12-pane horned sash windows to the first floor, and a French window below, to the end of the main range. The wing has a single gutter box on paired brackets and three 12-pane hornless sashes to the first floor, with three windows to the ground floor, two of which have been converted into doors, all under blind boxes. An axial and small end stack is visible. The left-hand elevation shows a wing, partially separately gabled, with four windows to the first floor (three 12-pane hornless sashes) and three horned sash windows to the ground floor. One internal lateral stack is present. The rear elevation has two 12-pane hornless sash windows to the right-hand wing, with a 20th-century glazed infill between the wings. Internal panelled shutters are present throughout the house. The interior has not been inspected.
