Description

Avery headstone, approximately 9 meters south of the tower of the Church of St Andrew, dates from around 1779 and commemorates Richard Avery. Made of slate, the headstone is a low crank-headed upright slab that stands about 1.2 meters high. It features neat Roman serif upper and lower case letters, recording the burial of Richard Avery, who died in 1779, along with a sentimental epithet.
