Description
Hollowhays is a house that was originally two cottages, likely built in the 18th century. It features plastered cob on rubble footings, with stone rubble or cob stacks topped with 19th and 20th-century brick. The thatched roof is hipped at both ends and slopes down from the left to the right former cottage. The building originally consisted of two semi-detached cottages facing southwest. The left (northwest) cottage includes a small former entrance lobby and a large room with an axial stack in the former party wall. The right cottage has a one-room plan with a projecting end stack. The front of the building has three windows, plus two additional ground floor windows where the former cottage front doors have been blocked. All windows are 20th-century casements with glazing bars. There are also 20th-century doors in each end wall. The interior features plain carpentry details, although the roof has not been inspected.
