Description

A terrace of eight small houses located on Castle Street in Tiverton, built around the 1840s. The houses are constructed using mass wall construction, with a stuccoed front elevation and a rear elevation of stone rubble. The roof is covered in asbestos slate and is gabled at each end, featuring axial brick chimneys. Each house is one room wide and two rooms deep.

The symmetrical front elevation has a 1:1:1:1 window arrangement. A shared doorway in the centre serves numbers 6 and 8, and further doorways at the ends provide access to numbers 4 and 10. The windows are 16-pane sashes, although some have been replaced. Number 10 retains a door which may be original, featuring fielded panels at the top and flush panels below. Number 2 has a 20th-century shop window. The rear elevation has segmental-headed attic dormers and some small-pane casement windows, likely original. The interiors have not been inspected, but may contain noteworthy original features.
