Description
No. 10 Newport Street is a shop with accommodation above, dating from the 1840s. It features mass wall construction, is stuccoed and blocked out, and has a slate roof that is hipped over a curved corner. The building is located on a corner site between Castle Street and Newport Street. The shop has been partly combined with No. 8 Newport Street.
The exterior consists of two storeys and a basement, with an asymmetrical three-window front. The shop window on the corner includes a glazed door with a low panel, flanked by three-light plate glass windows that have moulded mullions and pilasters decorated with Greek key ornament. The shop front is topped with an overall fascia and cornice. To the right, there is a half-glazed door leading to the accommodation, along with one 16-pane sash window. The first floor features three 16-pane sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.
